Action Indonesia wins at BIAZA awards!

The Action Indonesia Global Species Management Plans (GSMPs) have won a silver award in the conservation category of the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) annual awards.

This award was shared jointly by the BIAZA zoos actively involved in the Action Indonesia GSMPs – Africa Alive!, Chester Zoo and the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) – and is an indicator of the success of the wider partnership. This global collaboration is a strong example of how zoo experts and conservationists in the field can work together to protect species.

Over 50 institutions are involved in the Action Indonesia GSMPs, including zoos, governments, NGOs and universities. The award recognises the use of the One Plan Approach – combing the resources, skills and expertise of the zoo community and in situ conservationists – to protect anoa, banteng and babirusa, as well as the recent alignment with the Sumatran tiger GSMP.

Well done and congratulations to all involved – gold next time!
